The Broncos have to be pleased with Jay Cutler this season as he has played well.  Cutler has completed 194 of 300 passes (64.7%) for 2,384 yards with 13 TD passes and 10 interceptions (89.6 QB Rating) so far this season.  Cutler also is a good runner as he has carried the ball 28 times for 121 yards (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Cutler has a great throwing arm and he will get even better with experience as the Broncos future appears bright.

Chicago Bears 37, Denver Broncos 34 in OT

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Wednesday 28 November 2007 at 7:01 pm

The Broncos choked in this game as they were leading by two TDs halfway through the 4th quarter.  They made the mistake of kicking the ball to Devin Hester who returned a kickoff 88 yards for a TD and a punt 75 yards for a TD.  The Broncos likely win the game if they just kick the ball out of bounds on the punt or squib the ball on the kickoff to Hester.  Jay Cutler was outstanding in this game as he completed 17 of 31 passes for 302 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  Andre Hall got the start at running back for the Broncos and he carried the ball 26 times for 98 yards (3.8 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 2 passes for 69 yards (34.5 avg).  Cecil Sapp also got his work in as he carried the ball 7 times for 28 yards (4.0 ypc) with a TD run.  Brandon Marshall (4 rec, 97 yards) and Tony Scheffler (5 rec, 82 yards) each caught a TD pass in this game.  The Broncos finished up with 138 yards rushing on 37 carries (3.7 ypc) and they completed 17 of 31 passes for 292 yards.

D.J. Williams led the Broncos in a good defensive effort.  The Bears finished up with 122 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 33 passes for 171 yards.

Denver Broncos 27, Kansas City Chiefs 11

The Broncos dominated this football game on both sides of the football.  Jay Cutler completed 17 of 29 passes for 192 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 21 yards (7.0 ypc).  Selvin Young got the start at running back and he was outstanding as he carried the ball 20 times for 109 yards (5.5 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 3 passes for 20 yards (6.7 avg).  Brandon Marshall led the receivers on the Broncos with 6 grabs for 85 yards (14.2 avg).  The Broncos finished up with 141 yards rushing on 29 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 31 passes for 186 yards.

The defense made a lot of big plays in this game.  Nate Webster had 5 tackles and he returned a fumble recovery 17 yards for a TD.  Cornerbacks Dre’ Bly (5 tackles) and Champ Bailey (3 tackles) each intercepted a pass.  The Chiefs finished up with 67 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 45 passes for 217 yards.

The Denver Broncos release three players

The Broncos have released DT Amon Gordon, safety Curome Cox and WR/KR Brian Clark.  Gordon had 13 tackles this season and he even started a couple games early in the season for the Broncos.  Cox had 7 tackles mostly on special teams.  Brian Clark caught 4 passes for 23 yards (5.8 avg) and he also returned 3 kickoffs for 70 yards (23.3 avg).  None of these guys will be much of a loss for the Broncos.

The Denver Broncos sign WR Taylor Jacobs

The Broncos have signed Taylor Jacobs to give them depth at receiver and he will likely return some kicks.  Jacobs caught 3 passes for 40 yards (13.3 avg) this season for the 49ers.  He has now played in 50 games in his NFL career and he’s caught 37 passes for 384 yards (10.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  This won’t likely be a high impact signing by the Broncos.

The Broncos were horrible in Detroit on both offense and defense.  After all the offense gave up 14 points themselves with turnovers.  Jay Culter had to leave the game with an injured leg after completing 3 of 4 passes for 20 yards.  Patrick Ramsey replaced him and he completed 29 of 46 passes for 262 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception (returned 66 yards for a TD by DT Shaun Rogers).  Travis Henry only carried the ball 9 times for 31 yards (3.4 ypc) in this game.  Selvin Young also got some work in with 6 carries for 12 yards (2.0 ypc).  Brandon Marshall led the way for the receivers for the Broncos with 9 catches for 96 yards (10.7 avg).  TE Tony Scheffler also had a decent game with 6 grabs for 46 yards (7.7 avg).  Brandon Stokley added 4 grabs for 32 yards including a garbage time TD.  The Broncos finished with 47 yards rushing on 16 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 32 of 50 passes for 256 yards.

Linebacker D.J. Williams led a poor Broncos defensive effort as he made 9 tackles.  The Lions finished up with 130 yards rushing on 29 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 31 passes for 246 yards.

The Denver Broncos had just taken WR Rod Smith off of the PUP list due to a bad hip.  But after watching him attempt to practice this week they decided to place him on Injured Reserve thus ending his season.  Rookie defensive end Jarvis Moss was also placed on I.R. after he broke his fibula yesterday in practice.  Moss finishes his rookie season with 12 tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery.
