Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Previews by admin on Saturday 27 September 2008 at 10:54 pm

This appears to be a huge mis-match on paper but I have a feeling that the Chiefs are going to come to play in this game.  Still, the Broncos would have to be looking ahead to get beat by the lowly Chiefs.  The Chiefs are allowing 204.0 yards rushing per game and 5.5 yards per carry this season so look for Selvin Young, Andre Hall and Michael Pittman to all get there fair share of yards tomorrow.  But, the Broncos will likely want to pass to get the lead before running the ball to essentially take Larry Johnson out of the Chiefs’ offensive gameplan.  WRs Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal will be attacking the Chiefs deep while Brandon Stokley and TE Tony Scheffler will be working the short zones for the Broncos.

The Chiefs don’t want to get in a shootout tomorrow as they don’t think they can beat the Broncos at their game.  With that in mind look for the Chiefs to give the ball to Larry Johnson a lot.  In fact he might need a few breathers with rookie Jamaal Charles getting some carries tomorrow.  Still, with Damon Huard starting at QB the Chiefs should be able to throw the ball some against a Broncos’ defense that is allowing a stunning 315.7 yards passing per game this season.

Jay Cutler has been outstanding so far this season for the Denver Broncos

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page by admin on Saturday 27 September 2008 at 10:46 pm

Obviously Jay Cutler appears to be on his way to becoming one of the best QBs in the NFL.  He was solid last season but he is taking his game to a completely new level in 2008.  He has completed 73 of 108 passes (67.6%) for 914 yards with 8 TD passes and 2 interceptions (110.6 QB Rating).  The Broncos are averaging 38.0 points per game and 432.0 yards of offense per game and Jay Cutler’s play is the number 1 reason for that.

Denver Broncos 34, New Orleans Saints 32

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Wednesday 24 September 2008 at 6:06 pm

The Broncos somehow held on against the Saints despite allowing 502 total yards of offense.  Jay Cutler had another real solid game for the Broncos completing 21 of 34 passes for 264 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  Selvin Young led the way on the ground for the Broncos with 65 yards rushing on 11 carries (5.9 ypc).  Brandon Marshall had his second incredible game in a row with 155 yards on 6 catches (25.8 avg) with a TD grab.  The Broncos finished up with 105 yards rushing on 24 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 34 passes for 264 yards.

LB D.J. Williams led the way for the Broncos’ defense in this game with 16 tackles.  Fellow linebacker Nate Webster also had a great game as he had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery that he returned 34-yards for a TD.  LB Boss Bailey pitched in with 9 tackles in this game.  The Saints finished up with 88 yards rushing on 25 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 39 of 48 passes for 414 yards.  The Broncos are now 3-0 on the season with this win.

Denver Broncos vs. New Orleans Saints

This should be a very exciting game between two teams with great offenses and very little defense.  Drew Brees will be in attack mode tomorrow against a Broncos’ defense that is allowing 266.5 yards passing per game and opposing QBs have a 116.3 QB Rating against them so far.  TE Jeremy Shockey will get a lot of work in this game against the safeties of the Broncos who have not played well this season.  The Broncos are also allowing 115.0 yards rushing per game and 4.8 ypc so look for Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas to be very busy against them.

The Broncos will likely come out running the ball with Selvin Young, Andre Hall and Michael Pittman against a Saints’ defense that is allowing 147.5 yards rushing per game and 5.8 ypc.  But don’t think for a minute that QB Jay Cutler isn’t going to attack a defense that is allowing 256.0 yards passing per game.  WRs Brandon Marshall, rookie Eddie Royal and TE Tony Scheffler have all been dominating this season for the Broncos and they should all have good games against the Saints.

PREDICTION:  DENVER BRONCOS 31, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 30

The Denver Broncos trade WR Keary Colbert to the Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008 at 5:35 pm

The Broncos have traded WR Keary Colbert to the desperate Seahawks for a late round draft pick in 2009.  Colbert played in both games for the Broncos this season but he didn’t catch any passes.  Colbert wasn’t likely to get to play much due to the depth at WR of the Broncos so getting something for him was a very, very smart move.

Denver Broncos 39, San Diego Chargers 38

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Monday 15 September 2008 at 10:34 pm

The Broncos went for 2 at the end of the game and they made it making Mike Shanahan look like a genius.  He knew with the way that the Chargers were playing on offense that if he went for a tie the team that received the kickoff would likely win.  That was the reason for the do or die play.  Jay Cutler was fantastic in this game completing 36 of 50 passes for 350 yards with 4 TD passes and 1 interception.  Selvin Young was the leading rusher for the Broncos in this game as he ran for 78 yards on 8 carries (9.8 ypc).  Andre Hall pitched in with 31 yards rushing on 7 carries (4.4 ypc) while Michael Pittman added 7 carries for 30 yards (4.3 ypc) with a 1-yard TD run.  Brandon Marshall was outstanding in his first game back from suspension as he caught 18 passes for 166 yards (9.2 avg) with a 6-yard TD grab.  TE Tony Scheffler also had a game to remember last week catching 6 passes for 64 yards (10.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs (3, 14 yards).  Rookie WR Eddie Royal caught 5 passes for 37 yards (7.4 avg) with a TD grab.  The Broncos went back to the rookie (Royal) in the end zone giving the Broncos this win.  The Broncos carried the ball 24 times for 145 yards (6.0 ypc) and they also completed 36 of 50 passes for 341 yards.

The Broncos did not play well on defense.  CB Champ Bailey (7 tackles, interception) and LB Boss Bailey (6 tackles) led the way for the Broncos’ Defense.  The Chargers finished up with 80 yards rushing on 18 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 33 passes for 376 yards.  The Broncos are now 2-0 on the season.

Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Previews by admin on Saturday 13 September 2008 at 10:09 pm

The Chargers swept the series against the Broncos last season outscoring them a stunning 64-6!  The Chargers will likely let it all hang out on offense against the Broncos.  The Broncos allowed 150 yards rushing (4.8 ypc) against the Raiders last week so LaDainian Tomlinson will likely get his fair share of yards in this game.  If Tomlinson gets going then Philip Rivers should have a good game.  He threw 3 TD passes last week and he will look to Antonio Gates on the short stuff and Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson on the deep patterns.

The Broncos will mix it up on offense against a Chargers’ defense that’s banged up a little bit.  Jay Cutler will likely have time to throw the ball against the Chargers and that could be big trouble for them.  That’s because Brandon Marshall is back and he will team with Darrell Jackson and Eddie Royal to give the CBs of the Chargers fits in this game.  Also, TE Tony Scheffler could cause problems over the middle against the safeties of the Chargers.  RBs Selvin Young, Andre Hall and Michael Pittman should have some success on the ground against a Chargers’ defense that allowed 142 yards rushing (4.9 ypc) last week.

PREDICTION:  DENVER BRONCOS 35, SAN DIEGO CHARGERS 31

Denver Broncos 41, Oakland Raiders 14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 11:56 pm

Mike Shanahan always takes his games with the Raiders serious as he loves sticking it to the man who once fired him, Al Davis.  Jay Cutler had a outstanding game on Monday Night as he completed 16 of 24 passes for 299 yards with 2 TD passes.  Andre Hall led the Broncos in rushing yards with 61 yards on 10 carries (6.1 ypc) against the Raiders.  Selvin Young started the game and he rushed for 36 yards on 7 carries (5.1 ypc) with a TD run.  Michael Pittman only gained 13 yards on 7 carries in this game (1.9 ypc) but he rushed for 2 TDs.  Rookie WR Eddie Royal was the star of the night for the Broncos on offense as he caught 9 passes for 146 yards (16.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WR Darrell Jackson made his debut with the Broncos and he only caught 1 pass……a 48-yard TD.  The Broncos finished up this game with 142 yards rushing on 34 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 25 passes for 299 yards.

Linebackers Nate Webster (11 tackles) and D.J. Williams (7 tackles, sack) led the way for the Broncos’ defense in this game.  The Raiders finished up with 150 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 26 passes for 167 yards.  This was a fine opener for the Broncos who looked awesome in this game.

The Denver Broncos trade CB Domonique Foxworth to the Falcons

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Sunday 7 September 2008 at 1:12 am

The Broncos have traded 25-year old CB Domonique Foxworth to the Falcons for an undisclosed 2009 NFL Draft Pick.  Foxworth played in 14 games (6 starts) for the Broncos last season and he made 42 tackles and defensed 5 passes.  Foxworth played in 46 games (18 starts) in his career with the Broncos and he made 173 tackles, defensed 24 passes and had 3 interceptions.

Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,NBA Blogs by admin on Saturday 6 September 2008 at 11:48 pm

The Denver Broncos always seem to bring their A-game when they play the Raiders.  Mike Shanahan still holds a grudge against Al Davis for firing him in his second season in Oakland and it shows.  The Broncos will likely try to establish the running game to set up the passing game.  With that in mind RB Selvin Young will be busy against DT Garard Warren and linebacker Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard.  DE Derrick Burgess of the Raiders will try to establish the pass rush against QB Jay Cutler and if he can’t the Broncos should be able to effectively pass the football.  WRs Darrell Jackson and rookie Eddie Royal will be covered by CBs DeAngelo Hall and Nnamdi Asomugha so the Broncos might target other receivers.  WR Brandon Stokley and TE Tony Scheffler will likely battle safeties Gibril Wilson and Michael Huff and it will be interesting to see who wins out.

The Oakland Raiders are going to run the football right at the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football with Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden and Michael Bush.  DT Dewayne Robertson and linebackers Nate Webster, Boss Bailey and D.J. Williams will have their hands full in this football game.  The Raiders likely won’t throw the ball downfield too much in this game as CBs Champ Bailey and Dre’ Bly are one of the best pairs in the NFL.  It’s unlikely that either Javon Walker or Ronald Curry will be able to have good games on Monday Night.  But, TE Zach Miller could have a good game against safeties Marlon McCree and Marquand Manuel.

PREDICTION:  DENVER BRONCOS 24, OAKLAND RAIDERS 20
