The Broncos have signed 39-year old long snapper David Binn.  Binn did not play at all in 2011.  He has played in 256 games (0 starts) in his first 17 years in the NFL.  Binn will likely handle all of the long snapping for the Broncos tonight as 33-year old Lonie Paxton has missed all of the practices this week due to personal reasons.  He played in all 16 games for the Broncos this year.

The Denver Broncos have placed fullback Spencer Larsen on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a sprained MCL.  Larsen played in 16 games (14 starts) for the Broncos this year in which he carried the ball 14 times for 44 yards (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 9 passes for 76 yards (8.4 avg).  He also had five tackles this year.  He has now played in 50 games (15 starts) in his first four years with the Broncos and he has carried the ball 17 times for 62 yards (3.6 ypc).  Larsen has also caught 14 passes for 127 yards (9.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Larsen has also returned 4 kickoffs for 57 yards (14.3 avg) and he has 38 tackles.  The Broncos will miss Larsen’s blocking and special teams work the rest of the season.

The Broncos have placed 29-year old, starting guard Chris Kuper on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season to a broken left leg.  Kuper played in 16 games (all starts) for the Broncos last year.  He has now played in 79 games (73 starts) in his first six years with the Broncos.  This is a big blow for the Broncos heading into the playoffs this weekend.

The Denver Broncos sign OT Ryan Harris

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 3 January 2012 at 9:44 pm

The Broncos have signed 26-year old OT Ryan Harris.  Harris has not played in the NFL yet this year.  He has played in 46 games (34 starts) in his four years with the Broncos, with the last year being in 2010.  The Broncos need depth along the offensive line due to injuries, so it was smart to bring in a guy like Harris.

The Denver Broncos are sending three players to the Pro Bowl

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,General,The Pro Bowl by admin on Wednesday 28 December 2011 at 1:34 am

33-year old CB Champ Bailey, 27-year old DE Elvis Dumervil and 22-year old rookie LB Von Miller have been elected to the Pro Bowl.  Bailey and Miller will be starters.  Bailey has played in 12 games for the Broncos so far this year and he has 36 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 2 interceptions, 8 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  He is getting a little long in tooth, but he is still playing at a high level.  Elvis Dumervil got off to a late start this year due to injury, but he has been making up for lost time.  Dumervil has played in 13 games for the Broncos so far this year and he has 34 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  Rookie first round pick Von Miller has been everything the Broncos dreamed he would be when they took him in the first round of the NFL Draft last April.  Miller has played in 14 games for the Broncos so far this year and he has 64 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles and 4 passes defensed.  This trio of guys all deserved this honor as the Broncos’ D played a lot better this season than they did in 2010.

The Broncos have waived 25-year old safety Kyle McCarthy.  He played in 2 games for the Broncos last year and he had 1 tackle.  He played in 10 games in his first two years with the Broncos and he had 5 tackles.  The Broncos won’t miss McCarthy at all moving forward this year.

Von Miller of the Denver Broncos had thumb surgery today

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 30 November 2011 at 11:33 pm

22-year old rookie LB Von Miller had surgery to repair torn ligaments in this thumb.  He is still going to try to play this weekend against the Vikings, but I think he will miss the game.  Miller has played in 11 games for the Broncos so far this year and he has 58 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 4 passes defensed.  The Broncos hope that Miller gets well soon, because he’s the one defensive player that they can’t replace.

The Denver Broncos lose CB Cassius Vaughn for the rest of he season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 28 November 2011 at 6:26 pm

The Broncos have lost 24-year old cornerback Cassius Vaughn for the rest of the season as he has been placed on I.R. due to a broken fibula.  Vaughn played in 8 games for the Broncos this year and he had 20 tackles, 4 passes defensed, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 fumble recovery and a interception that he returned for a TD.  He has now played in 21 games in two years with the Broncos and he has 28 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 interception (TD), 4 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Broncos are going to miss Vaughn’s work on special teams as well as in the secondary the rest of this year.

The Denver Broncos waive Kyle Orton

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 22 November 2011 at 11:32 pm

The Broncos have waived 29-year old QB Kyle Orton.  Orton played in 5 games (all starts) for the Broncos this year and he completed 91 of 155 passes (58.7%) for 979 yards with 8 TD passes and 7 INTs (75.7 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 5 times for 17 yards (3.4 ypc) for the Broncos this year.  Orton played in 34 games (33 starts) in his three years with the Broncos and he completed 720 of 1,194 passes (60.3%) for 8,434 yards with 49 TD passes and 28 INTs (85.7 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 53 times for 92 yards (1.7 ypc) with 3 TD runs for the Broncos.  This puts a lot of pressure on Tim Tebow, who now doesn’t have to look over his shoulder anymore.  Plus, Brady Quinn will have to step up as the new #2 QB of the Broncos.  The Broncos should have dealt Orton before the season started as they won’t get anything for him now.

UPDATE:  The Broncos might not have cut Kyle Orton loose if they knew the Chiefs would claim him.  The Broncos have to play the Chiefs on January 1st in Denver.

The Denver Broncos lose RB Knowshon Moreno for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Broncos News Here,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 15 November 2011 at 12:29 am

The Broncos have placed 24-year old RB Knowshon Moreno on the Injured Reserve List due to a torn right ACL, ending his season.  Moreno played in 7 games for the Broncos this year and he carried the ball 37 times for 179 yards (4.8 ypc).  He also caught 11 passes for 101 yards (9.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Moreno has now played in 36 games in his first three years with the Broncos and he has carried the ball 466 times for 1,905 yards (4.1 ypc) with 12 TD runs.  He has also caught 76 passes for 686 yards (9.0 avg) with 6 TD grabs in his career.  This is a big blow to the Broncos due to the style of offense they are running right now.
