The Broncos have signed 26-year old DE Jason Hunter who was just released earlier this week by the Lions.  Hunter played in 14 games for the Lions last season and he had 34 tackles, 5 sacks and he defensed 3 passes.  He has now played in 56 games in his four years in the NFL and he has 66 tackles, 7 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 3 passes defensed.  This was a good signing for the Broncos who need help rushing the passer.

The Broncos have signed 30-year old running back Justin Fargas.  Fargas played in 12 games (4 starts) for the Raiders last season and he carried the ball 129 times for 491 yards (3.8 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 17 passes for 113 yards (6.6 avg) last year.  Fargas has now played in 92 games (32 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 827 times for 3,369 yards (4.1 ypc) with 10 TD carries.  He has also caught 77 passes for 523 yards (6.8 avg) in his career.  This was a good signing for the Broncos as they are worried about Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter’s health right now.

The Broncos have signed 25-year old running back LenDale White.  White will miss the first four games of this season due to a league suspension for failing a drug test.  White played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Titans last season and he carried the ball 64 times for 222 yards (3.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 3 passes for 14 yards (4.7 avg) last year.  White has now played in 58 games (18 starts) in his four years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 628 times for 2,349 yards (3.7 ypc) with 24 TD runs.  He has also caught 42 passes for 204 yards (4.9 avg) in his career.  The Broncos have waived RB Kolby Smith to make room on the roster for White.  I like this signing for the Broncos as White is a power running which is a contrast to the other backs on the roster.

The Denver Broncos sign OT Maurice Williams

The Broncos have signed 31-year old OT Maurice Williams.  Williams played in 5 games (4 starts) with the Jaguars last season.  He has played in 105 games (100 starts) in his 9 years in the NFL.  This was a good signing for the Broncos especially in light of the injury to Ryan Clady.  Williams could be the starting RT for the Broncos when the 2010 season starts.

UPDATE:  (6/5/2010) - The Broncos have released Williams who didn’t appear to have much gas left in the tank.

The Broncos have signed 30-year old inside linebacker Akin Ayodele to a 1-year deal.  Ayodele played in all 16 games for the Dolphins last season and he had 71 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and he forced 1 fumble.  Ayodele has now played in 128 games in his eight years in the NFL and he has 630 tackles, 23 passes defensed, 9.5 sacks, he has forced 9 fumbles and he has 7 interceptions.  The Broncos were lucky to find a player like Ayodele this late in free agency.
